A single-dose film-coated tablet of Valsartan available in 40, 80, and 160 mg contain Valsartan USP IP, along with other excipients.


The drug Valsartan is used in the treatment of hypertension and the prevention of strokes and myocardial infarction.

Side effects

Mild to moderate side effects have been observed. Side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, diarrhea, fatigue, lightheadedness, increased thirst, numbness or tingling in hands or feet, and swelling of the face or fingers.


This drug should not be prescribed before any heavy machinery work or before driving, as it causes dizziness.


Valsartan is contraindicated in patients with severe heart disorders, hyperkalemia, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and severe hepatic disorders such as liver cirrhosis.

Dosage and administration

In adult patients with heart failure, the usual dose consists of 40 mg two times a day to be administered orally.
