
Composition
A single-dose tablet of omadacycline is composed of 150 mg, which is equivalent to 196 mg of omadacycline tosylate. A single vial contains 100 mg of omadacycline, whose constituents are equivalent to 131 mg of omadacycline tosylate.
Indications
Its use is indicated in the treatment of community-acquired bacterial pneumonia caused by susceptible microorganisms such as Haemophilus influenza, Legionella pneumophila, skin and skin structure infections such as ABSSSIs (acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections), and mycobacterial abscesses
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effects. such as nausea, vomiting, infusion site rash, headache, diarrhea, insomnia, and constipation. In a few cases, increased ALP or AST.
Precautions
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to omadacycline or any of its constituents or any drugs of the tetracycline class.
Dosage and administration
A single tablet of omadacycline (150 mg or 300 mg) is to be administered once a day orally, post meals. An infusion dose of 100 mg is to be infused over 30 minutes once daily.
