Composition

Each ml contains human insulin I.P 100 IU, m -cresol 1.6 mg, glycerine I.P.16 mg, phenol I.P. 0.65 mg, protamine sulfate, dibasic sodium phosphate 3.78 mg, zinc oxide I.p. sodium hydroxide 10%, HCL 10% water for injection.

Indications

It is indicated to control high blood sugar levels in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Side effects

Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as weight gain rash, breathing problem, leg cramps, increase in urination, and increase heartbeat.

Precautions

This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with liver and kidney disease, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in people with diabetic ketoacidosis, hypersensitivity, and episodes of hypoglycemia.

Dosage and administration

Insulin NPH is available in 100 units/ ml. In type 1 diabetes adult dose is 0.5 unit/kg/day to be given subcutaneously in type 2 0.2 unit/kg/day to be given subcutaneously
