Composition

A single-dose film-coated tablet of this fixed-dose combination drug of Methyldopa and Hydrochlorothiazide available in 250 mg /15 mg & 250mg /25 mg consists of Methyldopa USP and other necessary inactive elements that makes this remedy best for treating a specific disorder.

Indications

Usage of this drug is indicated in the treatment of high blood pressure, helps in the relaxation of blood vessels, and helps in lowering the overall workload on the heart to prevent strokes and heart attacks.

Side effects

Mild to moderate range of side effects have been observed. Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, frequent urination, upset stomach, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and rash in some cases.

Precautions

This medication is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with severe hepatic disorders or in patients with severe renal dysfunction, to be prescribed cautiously in patients prior to driving or the ones working with heavy machinery.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to this drug or any of its constituents, people with active hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and asthmatic patients.

Dosage and administration

In the case of hypertension, the usual initial dosage in case of adults consists of 250 mg of Methyldopa/15-25 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide to be administered orally every 12 hours. Hydrochlorothiazide dosage should not exceed >50 mg per day overall.
