Lincomycin is used to treat various infections due to susceptible strains of bacteria like streptococcus, staphylococcus, and intra-abdominal infections.

Mild to moderate side effects have been observed, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, skin rash, itching, glossitis, stomatitis, urticaria, and abnormal liver function tests.

This drug is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with hepatic disorders, kidney dysfunction, or any other gastrointestinal disorders.

This drug is contraindicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to this class of drugs.

In adults, the usual dosage consists of 600mg every 12 hours to be administered orally. Also available in other forms for I.V./I.M. preparations.
