Composition

Tablet- Each tablet is available in 10, 25, and 50 mg, Hydroxyzine hydrochloride USP with other excipients accordingly. Oral solution- Each 5 ml contains Hydroxyzine hydrochloride USP 10 mg/ alcohol 0.5% v/v.

Indications

This drug is an antihistamine with anticholinergic indicated for anxiety tension pruritus and urticaria.

Side effects

Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as dry mouth, hallucination, and drowsiness

Precautions

This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with asthma, prostrate disease, blood dyscrasias, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

This drug is contraindicated in the patient's hypersensitivity and pregnancy.

Dosage and administration

For anxiety and tension- In adults usual dose consists of a tablet of 50 mg to be given orally four times daily with or without food. Syrup- In adults usual dose consists of 50 to 100 mg to be given orally four times a day. For pruritus and urticaria- In adults usual dose consists of a tablet of 25 mg to be given orally four times daily with or without food. Syrup-In adults usual dose consists of 25 mg to be given orally four times a day.
