Composition

A single-dose tablet of Guanfacine, available in 1 mg or 2mg dosage, consists of Guanfacine Hydrochloride USP, equivalent to 1 mg or 2 mg, along with other ingredients.

Indications

The use of this drug is indicated in the treatment of hypertension to decrease the workload on the heart.

Side effects

A mild to moderate range of side effects has been observed. Side effects such as dry mouth, dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, constipation, weakness, rash or itching, and swelling of hands or feet in certain cases.

Precautions

This medication is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with severe hepatic disorders, renal dysfunction, or pregnancy.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or any of its constituents.

Dosage and administration

In adults in the case of hypertension, the usual dosage consists of not exceeding more than 4 mg in a day.
