
Composition
A single-dose uncoated tablet of furosemide contains 20 mg, 40 mg, or 100 mg of furosemide I.P., equivalent to 20 mg, 40 mg, or 100 mg of furosemide, respectively.
Indications
This drug is used in the treatment of hypertension and in treating edema due to various renal disorders (nephrotic syndrome).
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effects have been observed. Side effects such as feeling thirsty, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, blurred vision, and bleeding gums.
Precautions
To be prescribed cautiously in patients with increased thirst, pregnancy, or severe heart disorders.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with hypokalemia, severe hyponatremia, azotemia, oliguria, or anuria.
Dosage and administration
In adults, the usual dosage is 20–80 mg per day to be administered orally as a single dose or in divided doses.
