Composition
Available in Byetta 5 mcg and 10 mcg. Each dose of Byetta 5 mcg contains 44 mcg meta cresol and each dose of Byetta 10 mcg contains 88 mcg of meta cresol
Indications
It is indicated to control the blood sugar level in type 2 diabetes
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effects have been observed such as nausea, vomiting decreased weight loss, hyperhidrosis, alopecia, renal impairment, anaphylactic reaction
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with an intestinal disorder, a blood disorder, kidney disease, pregnancy, and lactation
Contraindications
Use of this drug is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, drug-induced immune-mediated thrombocytopenia, medullary thyroid carcinoma
Dosage and administration
5 mcg dose administrated subcutaneously twice daily 60 minutes before morning and evening meals. In inadequate response, dose may increase to 10 mcg after one month of therapy
