A single-dose tablet of this drug contains 250mg or 500 mg of clarithromycin IP, which is equivalent to 250 mg or 500 mg of clarithromycin. Colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, and D&C Yellow No. 2 are other inactive ingredients present in it.
The use of this drug is indicated in the treatment of acute otitis media, sinusitis, acute maxillary sinusitis, complicated and uncomplicated skin structure-related infections, chronic bronchitis, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
A mild to moderate range of side effects has been observed. Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, fever, itching, skin rash, watery diarrhea, and severe diarrhea. Rare side effects observed are hoarseness and lower back pain.
This drug is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with hepatic disorders or renal dysfunction. In patients with nervous system-related disorders.
This drug is contraindicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to the drugs in this class.
Dosage and administration
In adults, the single usual dosage consists of one 250-mg tablet every 12 hours to be administered orally. Dose of a 500-mg tablet every 12 hours to be administered orally.
