Composition
Each single-dose tablet of Captopril, available in 12.5 mg, 25 mg, and 50 mg, is comprised of Captopril USP equivalent along with other ingredients.
Indications
The use of this drug is indicated in the treatment of hypertension, congestive heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction, and diabetic nephropathy.
Side effects
A mild to moderate range of side effects has been observed. Side effects such as nausea, dizziness, fatigue, cough, angioedema, proteinuria, renal insufficiency, taste changes, and headache in a few cases.
Precautions
This medication is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with troubled breathing, trouble swallowing, or hyperkalemia.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or its constituents.
Dosage and administration
In adults, the usual dosage in cases of hypertension consists of 25mg once a day to be administered orally. The dose can be increased up to 150 mg.
