Composition
Single tablet of canagliflozin 100mg / 300mg dosage composed of canagliflozin hemihydrate equivalent to 100mg / 300mg canagliflozin
Indications
It is indicated to control the blood sugar level along with diet and exercise in type 2 diabetes patients, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular, and kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effects have been observed such as urinary tract infections, male genital mycotic infections, frequent urination, angioedema, ketoacidosis, dry mouth, decrease in eGFR are commonly experienced.
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with kidney disease, heart disease, pregnancy, and lactation. limit alcohol intake because this medication increase risk of low blood sugar
Contraindications
Use of this drug is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to canagliflozin, severe renal impairment, and patients on dialysis
Dosage and administration
In adults, the usual dose consists of a tablet of 100 mg once daily before the first meal however in need of additional diabetic control dose is increased to 300 mg
