Usage of this drug is indicated in the treatment of increased blood pressure, that is in the case of hypertension, to decrease the fluid retention in the body.

Mild to moderate range of side effects has been observed. Side effects such as light-headedness, fainting or dizziness in some cases, dry mouth, weakness, muscle pain and thirst, drowsiness, cramps, seizures, and increased gastrointestinal diseases or problems.

This remedy is to be used cautiously in people with a previous history of heart failure, dilated neck veins, swelling of the face or legs, or in one with unusual tiredness.

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a previous history of anuria, and contraindicated in patients with a previous history of hypersensitivity to bendroflumethiazide or any of its constituents or any drugs from sulfonamide-derived class.

In the case of hypertension, the usual initial dosage consists of 5 to 20 mg to be administered orally once a day or in two divided doses. The maintenance dosage of 2.5 to 5 mg orally is to be given once a day.
