Composition
Every single dose film-coated tablet of this fixed-dose combination available in 20 mg/5 mg, 10 mg/40 mg comprises Amlodipine besylate USP equivalent to 10 mg of Amlodipine and Olmesartan medoxomil USP equivalent to 40 mg, along with other ingredients.
Indications
Usage of this drug is indicated in the treatment of hypertension, reducing the workload on the heart, and in the prevention of strokes and heart attacks.
Side effects
A mild to moderate range of side effects has been observed. Side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headache, flushing, rapid weight gain, swelling in hands or feet, Skin rash, and itching in severe cases.
Precautions
This medication is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with severe renal dysfunction; it is not to be prescribed in pregnancy as it is harmful to the unborn baby; it is to be prescribed cautiously in patients working with heavy machinery or driving.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with diabetes, type 2 diabetic patients, and severe renal disorders.
Dosage and administration
In adults with hypertension, the usual dosage of 5 mg or 20 mg to be administered orally once a day is to be increased accordingly.
